Diversas vacinas usadas no mundo são feitas com linhas de células fetais. NoSão tipos de células feitas em laboratório, mas baseadas em originais obtidas a partir de dois abortos feitos para este fim. Um deles foi em 1972 e o outro em 1985, ambos na Holanda.
Mas se você concorda que o consumidor final de produtos roubados ou ilicitamente adquiridos deva ser responsabilizado, entenderá que o uso desse material biológico é algo imoral.
Nos EUA, onde o debate bioético é algo mais comum, há empresas que desenvolvem as chamadas vacinas éticas ou morais, que não utilizam essas linhas celulares. Afinal, mesmo que tenham sido abortos feitos há muito tempo, nada garante que não estejam sendo feitos atualmente em países onde o aborto não é crime e a vida humana é, assim, relativizada.
As vacinas chinesas, como as da empresa Sinovac, informam não utilizar cultura de células fetais, mas de animais. No entanto, essa informação é altamente suspeita, uma vez que a China tem longa tradição de uso de células fetais para medicamentos e sendo o aborto lá livre de quaisquer amarras éticas.
Pensando em facilitar a vida de quem não pretende colaborar com o mal, a ONG pró-vida Children of God for Life listou as vacinas para Covid 19 que estão sendo desenvolvidas conforme os padrões éticos e morais aceitáveis e aquelas que não estão.
